Australian National Collection of Homogenised Observations of Relative Sea Level (ANCHORS)
Updated: 2021-09-16
The Australian National Collection of Homogenised Observations of Relative Sea Level (ANCHORS) is a national dataset of tide gauge-based sea level observations, statistics, and projections. The dataset comprises 38 tide gauge records from around Australia of at least 40 years' length. Statistical homogenisation has been applied to detect and correct jumps or steps in the data caused by non-geophysical factors (e.g., equipment upgrades, shift in location of tide gauge). These hourly homogenised sea level observations have been used to develop further analyses including mean and maximum sea level statistics, sea-level trends and trajectories, present-day frequencies of various sea levels and extremes, and projections of future flood frequencies and probability distributions of sea levels under various Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) sea-level rise scenarios to 2150.
