MOM6/SIS2 PanAntarctic simulations at 0.1°, 0.05° and 0.025° resolution (repeat year forcing)
Updated: 2026-06-24
The MOM6/SIS2 PanAntarctic simulations use a regional ocean‐sea ice model for the Antarctic margins and Southern Ocean. The configuration is described in Schmidt et al. 2025: https://doi.org/10.1029/2024MS004621. The configuration is based on the global Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory OM4.0 ocean‐sea ice model (Adcroft et al., 2019: https://doi.org/10.1029/2019MS001726; Griffies et al., 2020: https://doi.org/10.1029/2019MS001954) but with substantial modifications, for example, higher resolution, regional boundary forcing and removal of eddy parameterisations. This dataset uses repeat-year forcing, which makes it more suitable for perturbation experiments by removing interannual forcing variability. Simulations are available at three horizontal resolutions of 0.1° (~4 km at the Antarctic margins), 0.05° (~2 km) and 0.025° (~1 km).
