ACCESS-OM2 0.1 degree global model output (repeat-year forcing) SSP scenario extensions
Updated: 2025-07-10
The four experiments in this dataset were branched from the ACCESS-OM2 0.1 degree global model configuration, forced with JRA55-do v1.3 RYF9091 repeat year forcing (May 1990 to Apr 1991). ACCESS-OM2-01 is COSIMA's flagship high-resolution ocean-sea ice model. It uses 0.1° lateral resolution at the Equator, tripolar in the north and Mercator projection down to 65°S, with 75 vertical levels. The ACCESS-OM2 global model configuration is based on that described in Kiss et al. (2020; https://doi.org/10.5194/gmd-13-401-2020), but with many improvements. These simulations (listed below) are future perturbation experiments with wind, thermal, precipitation and meltwater forcing for different projections, branching from 01deg_jra55v13_ryf9091 as described in Dawson et al (2025; https://doi.org/10.1175/JCLI-D-24-0189.1 ). They investigate the impact of mid- (SSP2-4.5) and high-range (SSP5-8.5) emissions on Antarctic margin circulation and hydrography at the end of this century. More specifically, the experiments use the ACCESS-OM2 0.1 degree global model configuration, forced with JRA55-do v1.3 RYF9091 repeat year forcing (May 1990 to Apr 1991) plus time-stepped, spatially-variable wind (u,v), air temperature, downwelling longwave radiation, and surface precipiation (liquid and solid) forcing anomalies from 22 CMIP6 models under the either SSP2-4.5 or SSP5-8.5 calculate for the end-of-century period (2081-2100) minus a 50-year historical period (1950-2000) for the same CMIP6 models. This simulation branches off a 250 year spinup of 01deg_jra55v13_ryf9091. More details on the forcing applied and the simulation response can be found in Dawson et al. (2025), published in Journal of Climate. Experiments: - 01deg_jra55v13_ryf9091_ssp245 - 01deg_jra55v13_ryf9091_ssp245mw - 01deg_jra55v13_ryf9091_ssp585 - 01deg_jra55v13_ryf9091_ssp585mw
