National Coastal Discharge Dataset v1.0

This product includes both the in-land catchment stations that are likely to influence the freshwater discharge into the marine environment and the freshwater discharge flow to the marine environment. The impact area is the Australia Region. The availability of data is from 1993-2016 with daily intervals. The data is also provided in an hourly interval, from 2007-2016 for the NEC/Great Barrier Reef region. A total of 405 most downstream gauge locations were selected and processed by the BoM Water Forecast Services. The stations are divided by Drainage Division. Continuous gap-filled streamflow time series were created for the stations by the application of drainage models and/or interpolation. A total of 771 marine nodes were created by the BoM Water Forecast Services using the GR4J model for the daily data. For the hourly data on the Great Barrier Reef region, a total of 60 marine nodes are presented using the G2G model estimates. The marine nodes are defined at the land-marine fringe region, between land gauged stations, ungauged areas, and the coastal ocean. Marine nodes are divided by frequency interval, the model used, categories (if from GR4J), and Drainage Division. The product consists of a continuous gap-filled streamflow time series. The source of data is processed gauged stations, application of drainage models (GR4J/G2G), and/or interpolation. The products generated by GR4J are divided into four categories: * Cat 1 - One or more upstream gauged site on same river and tributaries. * Cat 2 - At least one gauged site within a 50km radius in the same Koppen Climate Zone. * Cat 3 - Two gauged sites within 50-250km in the same Koppen Climate Zone. * Cat 4 - Two gauged sites greater than 250km in the same Koppen Climate Zone. The products generated by the G2G model are from a single category and in different locations than those provided by the GR4J model. These products are only located in the North-East Coast (NEC) Geofabric, excluding part of the northern region and inclusive of the southern region in the North-East Coast. This broadly covers the area from Currumbin Creek to Hann River in the North (excluding few catchments).
