Fouling-release coatings enhance coral spat survival by limiting algal competition on seeding devices

Updated: 2026-03-24

This data represents a set of environmental factors related to the survival rate of coral spat deployed on seeding devices with FRC protection in an midshelf habitat. This data was collected because it allows interpretation on how these different variables differentially affect spat survival and provides significant evidence of the beneficial role of FRC protection to increase survival rates by 10% after one year of reef deployment. Data was collected from three experimental sites at Davies Reef between December 2022 and December 2023, using underwater surveys and desktop analyses. Data was analysed using generalised linear mixed effect model and ordination techniques in a Bayesian approach and using R software.
