Macquarie Island Wildlife Monitoring Program - Seabirds and Seals (established 2022)

The Macquarie Island Wildlife Monitoring Program was established in 2022 as part of AAS project 4619 (Macquarie Island Wildlife Monitoring Program: strategic monitoring for applied conservation and management) collects data from seabirds and seals on Macquarie Island to understand the current population status and trends and investigate the environmental and anthropogenic drivers of population changes. This dataset includes population counts, spatial data of breeding distributions and survey areas, dietary information and animal tracking data to investigate foraging ecology. Data are variable in duration and quality and information pertaining to each is included within each dataset. Although the focus of this project is for work conducted in 2022 onwards, historical data may also be included in the program - hence the 1970 temporal coverage start date.
