Impacts of record Antarctic sea ice losses in 2022--2023 on swell-induced flexure of ice shelves
Published: 2026-06-17
This dataset was created to calculate the change in wave-induced flexural stress that 14 major ice shelves underwent between 2014--2023, and to recreate the figures in "Impacts of record Antarctic sea ice losses in 2022--2023 on swell-induced flexure of ice shelves". It includes Matlab files of daily sea ice lengths for the Larsen C, Brunt, Fimbul, Amery, Shackleton, Mertz, Cook, Ross, Sulzberger, Nickerson, Thwaites, Pine Island and Wilkins ice shelves, which were generated using AMSR2 ASI Sea ice data and ice shelf locations taken from masking ice shelf extents given by Greene et al., 2021 (). To pair with, daily wave data from CAWCR wave hindcast is included alongside the idealised corridors used for each ice shelf, with a +- 45 degree longitude and + 10 degree latitude bound given to both as cutoffs. The stress model outputs alongside the code to use the stress model have also been included.
