RV Investigator Voyage IN2023_V01 POC and Biogenic Silica from Two CTD Stations Data

This record describes particulate organic carbon (POC) and biogenic silica data collected during the Marine National Facility (MNF) RV Investigator voyage IN2023_V01, titled Antarctic Bottom Water production in the past: Records from marine sediments, Cape Darnley, East Antarctica. The voyage took place between 25 January and 2 March 2023 (AEST), departing from Fremantle and returning to Hobart. The CANYONS voyage investigated past and present processes governing the formation, flow pathways and geochemical characteristics of Antarctic Bottom Water (AABW) off Cape Darnley, East Antarctica, with survey activities focused on the Wild and Daly canyons and adjacent sediment drifts. This dataset contains analyses of particulate organic carbon and biogenic silica from two CTD stations occupied in the Cape Darnley region. The voyage was terminated following a medical evacuation, limiting CTD sampling to two stations. The dataset also includes hydrochemistry, dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), alkalinity and pigment data.
