Fouling release coatings reduce colonisation of coral seeding devices

Updated: 2026-03-24

This data represents a set of environmental factors related to the testing of a range of antifoul coating and wax aiming to assess their performance on a midshelf reef deployment, for a total of ~12 months. In addition, adult coral microfragments were included in the experiment to assess the relationship of the coating with coral sirvival, as well as evaluating the tissue growth on treated devices. Data includes fragment survival, device fouling, and benthic community. Data was collected from three experimental sites at Davies Reef between April 2022 and April 2023, using underwater surveys and desktop analyses. Data was analysed using generalised linear mixed effect model and ordination techniques in a Bayesian approach and using R software.
